Many of you know I’m really about community. I love finding and meeting new people, I love bringing Geeks together, and I love being surrounded by a good group of like-minded individuals who are getting along and having a good time. If you’ve ever hung out with me at a convention or meet up, then you know I love introducing folks to each other, helping folks answer their “How have I not met you before?” questions, and just generally perpetuating the myth that I know EVERYBODY. I was introduced to the people I’m dusting off the “Follow Friday” blog post for, just because of this attitude.
I’m sure many of you know Mike. He’s @greymattersplat on The Twitter, and he’s a great guy. He’s also my best publicist. We were both at the INDYpendent show a few weekends ago when he came up and told me about a Podcast that was in the corner. Now, to be honest, I enjoy podcasts, but I normally don’t have the time to listen to them, since I have a short drive to work, and if I’m typing a blog post, I actually prefer something without words or anything I have to really focus on listening to. I had seen them in the corner, thought it was cool, but moved on. Honestly, words are hard. While I’m passable on a blog or social media, where I can read and re-read what I’m writing before throwing it out into the Internet, something like a podcast involves me making words right then and there, which I’m fairly weak at. However, Mike told me that this podcast was new to the community, he had told them about me, and they were interested in speaking to me. Well heck, with newer podcast that’s Indy based, I’m going to make the frakkin’ time to go talk to them, so I walked over with him, and I’m glad I did.

Mike introduced me to Moxie, one of the members of this crew of ‘casters. We spoke for a while, mainly about my love of Geek community and how they are wanting to ease into the community, and then I was asked if I wished to sit and record. Well, as I said, words are hard for me, sometimes, but I sucked it up and sat with them. What followed was, at least in my mind, a very enjoyable experience, first with Story Dice, and then with an actual interview.
This crew was very professional (!) and made me feel very comfortable. They’re also the kind of people you just want to sit around the table with, have some beers, and take a while just Geeking out and shooting the bull. Once I started listening to their podcast, it does almost feel like that. It’s a very natural conversation, although sometimes they do lean towards profanity. However, not all of their recordings are like that, and according to T-Spoon, they’re working on labeling their recordings with profanity levels, and they do “family friendly” ‘casts as well. All of this will be coming, we just need to give them time.
Anyway, for a good time, definitely give them a listen, and follow on all outlets:
