Next Tuesday, I get the keys to the new Geek Cave. It’s not very spacious, so I’m having to figure out ways to really get my personality into it, with minimal space. I know one place that has never really shown any personality in any of my apartments over the last few years has been the kitchen. Once upon a time, I was into peppers. There were hot sauce bottles around the cabinets, posters of the types of peppers on the wall, the full nine yards. However, lately, it’s just pots and pans, or if I’m really busy, piles of dishes that I need to wash. However, thanks to websites like Think Geek, I’m able to start looking at some things to help show off a bit of my Geek, even in the kitchen. This isn’t going to be like the Tardis Bathroom, though. This is going to be like me, a lover of many Geek things, but no focus on any single one. This might also have a bit of overlap from the Geeky Baking post Michelle did for me a few months ago, but I’m also hoping that it’ll have enough new stuff to be interesting for everyone! So, let’s take a look at what a cool Geeky kitchen would include!
First off, we’re going to show off some love for Star Wars. A great place to start is with your measuring cups and your kitchen timer, because you need measuring cups, and while the microwave timer works, let’s show some style. For these, I think we’ll take a look at everyone’s favorite astromech droid with the R2-D2 Measuring Cups and R2-D2 Kitchen Timer. We also want to look at shakers for your salt and pepper, and while there are many, MANY choices for Geeks on this level, none make more sense than the Star Wars Salt & Pepper Shakers, with Darth Vader for pepper, and a Stormtrooper for the salt.
Next, we need to look at the other “star” franchise, Star Trek. Of course, you have to go with the Starship Enterprise Pizza Cutter, because I do like to make my own pizza. I’m choosing the 1701 version, versus the 1701-D, because I don’t want to try to clean pizza cheese out of that large saucer section. The other Trekkie addition I’m looking at is an Enterprise Bottle Opener, as it looks sturdy enough to be able to open a good local craft beer bottle.
Now, I’m looking at everything with an eye for usefulness, and not just to have “Geeky” things in the kitchen. This means I’m skipping over all of the ice cube trays, and baking trays, that are themed to different movies, or television shows. This also means that some of the stuff won’t be from a particular license, but instead just have a general, unusual look. This opens up for cool things like the Cook and Stack Kitchen Utensils, which give you a ladle, spatula, and slotted spoon/pasta strainer that are attached to building bricks, that will attach to a base plate on the wall. There is also the Cylindra Spice Rack, which takes the spices out of their containers that normally hide in that cabinet over the oven hood, and put them in petri dish-style container and puts them on display in your kitchen, plus makes it easier to get the stuff you need. Finally, there’s also the OCD Chef Cutting Board. This board has precise measurements for all of your trimming and slicing needs.
These are just a few items that I’m thinking about. There will probably be some beer items as well, and of course glassware.
What about you? What do you have in your Geeky kitchen? Give us a shout in the comments, and spread the love for your favorite Geeky items!

No, the money will NOT be going to get me the Cook and Stack Kitchen Utensils. I got those as a house warming gift. They’re really spiffy!
