Another week, another crippling amount of homework due. That’s what college is all about though, right?
My favorite part about these boosting articles is that they let me write about things I love without having to find time to watch an entire series or movie or something to write about. I can just throw together some quick thoughts and opinions about some stuff I think everyone should check out, and still have time to drown in stress, anxiety, and homework! I’ve gathered my thoughts on a few things that really help me get through the week. These are all things that I can set aside 15-20 minutes every once in a while to give myself a break from how busy I am.
In case I haven’t driven the point home yet, I’m super busy.
So, without further ado, let us begin!
BOOST #1: THE SIMPSONS TAPPED OUT
My first boost this week is an awesome “freemium” mobile game that just so happens to be Simpsons themed! In the game, Homer has accidentally caused a meltdown at the power plant that has completely destroyed Springfield. As the player, you take on the role of Skyfinger, and you are tasked with rebuilding Springfield from the ground up. I adore this game, and find myself playing it all the time whenever I need a little pick-me-up. The game is constantly adding new characters and buildings through themed events, so I never get bored with it. I love seeing all of the classic characters and locales from the show appearing on my phone screen! While the game is mostly free, there is a premium aspect in the form of donuts. These donuts cost real money, and can be used to unlock special buildings, decorations, and characters. The Simpsons Tapped Out is available on the IPhone App Store, as well as the Google Play store for all of you Android users out there!
BOOST #2: SUPERMEGA
My second boost for this week is a relatively new YouTube channel known as SuperMega. Comprised of two dudes, Matt Watson and Ryan Magee, SuperMega is a Let’s Play channel that never fails to make me laugh. For those who don’t know, Let’s Players are people who upload videos of themselves playing video games. While this may not seem appealing to everyone, it definitely is to me. I find the guys at SuperMega to be hilarious, and they always put me in a good mood when I need it. I do have to put a warning though; their form of humor is crude, childish, inappropriate, and definitely not for everyone. But, if fart jokes and crude humor makes you laugh uncontrollably, then this is definitely the channel for you. You can find SuperMega’s videos on their YouTube channel, but I’ll go ahead a link a Best Of SuperMega video right here for anyone to try out!
BOOST #3: SPOTIFY
My final boost for this week is none other than Spotify. Spotify is an awesome, free-to-use music streaming service that is available on PC and smart phones. With Spotify, there are thousands of songs by many different artists, all available for streaming, including the entire discography of The Beatles! I use Spotify to create playlists that I listen to during walks, while studying, or whenever I just need to chill out to some music. On PC, you can stream songs in any order with some adds dropped throughout. However, on the phone, the only option for non-premium users is shuffle. There is in fact a premium option for Spotify, that I think is most beneficial to phone users. With Spotify premium on phones, you can listen to whatever you want in any order without adds. You can even download the songs to listen to while offline! You can download the Spotify app on the IPhone App Store and the Android Google Play store. Here is a link to Spotify’s website for more information about premium and PC use!
Well, so ends another week of Media Monday boosting. I’m really enjoying this format, and it is making writing fun again! I’ve had some ideas about how to improve these articles, such as boosting things that all fit into a similar theme, but we’ll see how that goes.
Tune in next week to see what I write about next!
